Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate are tide predictions?
Predictions use NOAA's harmonic models, which are typically accurate within a few minutes for time and a fraction of a foot for height under normal conditions. Storm surge, atmospheric pressure, and unusual winds can shift actual tides above or below predicted values.
Can I export the tide schedule?
Yes. CSV export is built in. Use it for daily planning, sharing with a crew, or feeding tides into your own scheduling spreadsheet.
Why does the chart show negative values?
Negative tides are real low tides that fall below the chart datum (mean lower low water). They expose more of the intertidal zone and matter for shellfish harvest, beach access, and shallow-draft boating.
How far ahead can I predict?
NOAA publishes harmonic predictions years into the future. The tool defaults to a multi-day window centered on today and lets you scroll forward or back.
Can I look up tides for any beach?
You can pick from any active NOAA tide station. Smaller bays or coves between stations can be approximated using the nearest station; for precise local timing, look for a subordinate station listed under the parent station.
